Metallica And Flea, Sitting In A Tree

The Silverlake Conservatory of Music (which welcomes people from all over the city, not just Silver Lake) is throwing a benefit concert tonight with an exclusive Metallica performance at The Wiltern.

The Flea-founded SCM developed as a reaction to music cuts in the public school budgets, and his facility now exists as a musical haven for kids; offering programs and scholarships to low income families who might otherwise not have access to lessons or instruments.  They also offer a summer camp program and are looking to expand beyond the eight classrooms into additional buildings.

2200 souls will enter this evening, and 100% of the proceeds will fund these initiatives.  Buy tickets here.  Or try your luck at the venue.

(Note: Though not nearly as noble an offering, Metallica is also headlining the KROQ Weenie Roast this weekend in Irvine).
