Livin' the Simpsons life
Look for the giant clown's mouth, file under the epiglottis and queue up for a ride well worth the wait.
The Simpson's ride at Universal Studios combines that shiny newness with superior animation, experience and delivery of the summer thrill ride hit. Taking the 'Back To The Future' footprint and completely upgrading it, The Simpsons 'coaster has the visuals (and water sprays) worthy of being the park's premiere attraction. Hi-def screens abound -- from the serpentine waiting line with original scenes spliced together -- all the way to Krusty's Midway. The midway is a collective of four booths, manned by Apu (snacks), Patty and Selma (lost and found), Willie (crier) and Hans Moleman (info booth). All of them take turns engaging those in Line: Stage Two as you wait for one of the 12 cars to open up. But wait ... there's more. The third and final staging area is a small room (cars only hold eight people) where you are briefed on the storyline: Sideshow Bob has escaped and seeks sweet revenge on the world's favorite yellow family. Les Simpsons are in a virtual car in front of your actual car ... and from there things just go off the rails. And through flying donuts. And into a water show. And down a hellish well. Fear not, though, Professor Frink is there! As well as enough other surprises to make you want to shoot up the exit ramp and get back in line.
