It Ain't No Fun If the Goyehs Can't Have None
It may be an unwritten law in Los Angeles that when you see one actor from a particular TV show you will inevitably spot another from the same cast within a week or less. For example, not too long ago we sat at a stoplight on PCH next to Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen and later that week, Larry David made our decade and strolled into Boa.
Then, only last Wednesday, while having breakfast at Cora's, we noticed Alia Shawka (Maeby from "Arrested Development") at a table next to us. Later that very night, we came face-to-face with David Cross at the Heeb Magazine cover launch party for Jason Segel, which was held at the Von Dutch store on La Brea. We were coming out of the bathroom and he appeared to be waiting in line to get his taxes done. We suspect he was wearing his cutoffs. Which brings us to the next unwritten law. No one knows how to party better than the chosen people. Heeb's bash proved it, here's the short list how. 1) We got our taxes done. By real accountants, for free. 2) Said accountants told us the Samsung flat screen we want to buy can be considered a research tool for our job and is tax deductible. 2) We learned why we should invest in an IRA. We invested in one. 3) We met a key member of a band called Meshugga Beach Party. They dress up like Rabbis and play surf music at any bar mitzvah or bris. Need we say more? 4) The tiny front woman of a band called L'Amour Est La Guerre scream-sung 'f-you' about 20 times at us before starting her set. 5) Someone called the cops at 11PM. ![]() ![]() ![]() Photos by Mike Garten/Heeb Magazine
