South Dakota, land of Rocky Raccoon and giant stone President-heads built by ancient Druids, has claimed another celebrity for its file.

Steven Tyler was livin' too close to the edge on August 5th during an Aerosmith tour stop in the Black Mountain state and took a tumble off the stage during the PUMP anthem "Love In An Elevator." Liv's dad was airlifted to a nearby hospital before returing to Boston for further consult.

Earlier today Aerosmith regretfully cancelled the rest of their summer tour, allowing Tyler to recuperate from the broken shoulder and stitches to his head suffered in the accident. The ever-shirtless, guitar grinding Joe Perry is reeeeeealy bummed and issued this statement, "Words can't express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour... I would like to thank our loyal fans for sticking by us through thick and thin and all the good energy they are sending our way. We hope we can get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible."

Ticket refunds available at point of purchase for all shows including local dates at Staples Center (8/21), and Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (8/23).

ZZ Top, originally scheduled as Aerosmith's special tour guest, have since announced two LA-area headlining dates at the House of Blues [Anaheim] (8/20), and the House of Blues [Sunset Strip] (8/21). Legs is still one of the bestest weirdest videos ever. It's like a Mad Magazine version of a John Waters film. But with beards and bobby socks. Tickets on sale 10am tomorrow @ LiveNation.com
