The exclusive, fourteen-city, North American summer tour hits The Wiltern on Wednesday, August 19th with the full-force of guitar girls gone wild. Singer/songwriters across the city, prepare to be humbled. Last time Tracy Chapman was in town she covered Nirvana's 'Come As You Are' at the Hollywood Bowl with a soothing and cool confidence that made you want to be her best friend.
Following a successful conquest of Europe, TC is bringing the tour stateside in support of her newest album, Our Bright World (Atlantic). Moreno, singing in both Spanish and English, will perform material off of her latest release, Still The Unknown (self released).
Give me one reason, NOT to go.

***POST SHOW RECAP*** Gaby Moreno was deliciously adorable and by the looks of the crowd clap-a-longs, she appears to be getting her sealegs on tour. She turned up the growl in her final number with a beautiful tone and a bigger energy that's sure to find its way into more and more of her music. Tracy Chapman was as disarmingly powerful as expected. Covers of "Love Song" by The Cure, and Bob Marley's "Get Up, Stand Up" found an easy home in her tremendous set of seemingly ageless songs. Her music so pretty and so sad yet so remarkably un-heavy to listen to. I guess that's why she's special. Also, she's written a new (I think it's new) song called, "I Did It All," and it's a similarly styled, storysong answer to Peggy Lee's "Is That All There Is?" Finally.
