His is not a face that LA party people see very often, but actor Edward Norton made sure to show up for the "PUMA Presents the African Bazaar" bash on Wednesday night.
Held in a transformed space at 5410 Wilshire Boulevard, the get-together was Puma's celebration of its own commitment to African athletes and charities.
Puma recently sponsored Norton his New York Marathon run, which he did with three Maasai warriors and 26 other Puma-sponsored runners, to support the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust. Norton, looking super in skinny jeans and brown Pumas (naturally), joined pals Chris Kattan and Joel McHale inside, where a slightly odd combination of sensory elements assailed the senses.
We understood how the African Kente cloth draped from the ceiling connected, and why special African-themed silk screened shirts caused long lines to form. As well, the victuals served up by Susan Feniger's Street -- the restaurant devoted to street food from around the world (including Africa) -- made perfect sense. And the foosball table? We're guessing that has something to do with the World Cup heading to South Africa in 2010.
Regardless, the table was a hit, drawing crowds of the boys from James Van der Beek to Zach Gilford of "Friday Night Lights" fame. "Nip/Yuck" hottie John Hensley tried his hand at the table, too, and we spotted Enrique Murciano, Aziz Ansari, and new "Grey's Anatomy" addition Jesse Williams checking out the action. Most of the gals, however, went for the clothes. Jessica Stroup ("90210") and Judy Greer snagged special-edition tees. Also hanging out in a pack were "Community" stars Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, and Yvette Nicole Brown.
Lynn Collins, Anoop Desai, Sam Page and a gaggle of other sort-of-familiar television stars wandered the place, checking out the African drummers, stilt walkers, and soccer players showing off their unique talents and testing the scary combination of Patron tequila and Red Bull that was the featured drink of the night. Too much of that electrical combination and you'll be strapping on your Pumas and taking off to Africa... without a plane.
