The crowd formed early and stayed late to take in the red, white, and champagne teasers cars -- gorgeous poptop roadsters, a sleek DB9 Volante, the V8 Vantage (a Bond favorite) -- all lining the driveway of the SLS Hotel.
However, it was the silver beauty displayed atop the private side patio that caused the most automotive lust among the partygoing women (who can afford any car they see -- think Candy Spelling and Nancy Davis) and the men poised to sell Aston Martin's first four-door sportscar.
The company's head honchos were all on hand, from CCO Michael van der Sande and national marketing manager Bill Ussery to Dr. Ulrich Bez, auto design guru and the CEO.
"Rapide has such an elegant design," Bez told the rapt audience, as they explored the only-one-of-its-kind 12-cylinder, 500hpr beast. "It offers a back seat, for your big dogs, your guns, or whatever else you do for relaxation." Guns?
Chelsea Handler was on a hunt of her own at the elegant affair; she's reportedly already put in her order for her very own Rapide. And at $200,000, that's not chump change. There's room in the back for her tiny sidekick Chuy, but her BFF Jenny McCarthy, who was laminated to her side at the bash, may need one of her own. She's another woman who can definitely afford it.
But Nancy Davis, daughter of the late billionaire Marvin Davis, wasn't so sure she was ready to spring for the gorgeous ride, which rolls off the production line early next year. "I'd like one if they want to give me one," she quipped.
Sadly, there were no keys in the goodie bag. In fact, there was no goodie bag at all -- just a gift of the Aston Martin Magazine, a drool-worthy publication of their stunning and exclusive automobiles.
