Newly minted rock supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures, annihilated the Wiltern Theatre on Tuesday night in Los Angeles (11/17/09).

The Vultures are Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters fame, Frontman Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, and one of the greatest bass guitarists, from one of the greatest bands ever, Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones.

The music -- a blend of dirty, bluesy rock -- never let up during the course of the 14 song set, and the ghost of Zeppelin past was in full view within the framework of the Vultures. While Grohl and Homme have never hidden their admiration and respect for the iconic band (as apparent in their respective "day jobs"), their collaboration with Jones takes admiration to a different level. It's a reinterpretation and continuance of the spirit of Led Zeppelin. Basically, this shit rocks... hard... and loud!

(*released this week, their first studio album is now available on DGC/Interscope.)
