Interesting fact: All songs, even classic ones, get a new meaning and interpretation when performed by a woman who is eight months pregnant.

The Bird and The Bee held an exclusive, sold-out showcase at the El Rey Theater last Friday (3/5/10) in support of their upcoming release, Interpreting the Masters Volume 1: A Tribute to Daryl Hall and John Oates.

A very pregnant Inara George and very talented Greg Kurstin led a spandexed band of choreographed beauties through a charming set of original songs and Hall & Oates babymakers.

There were keytars, there were geometric dresses, there was John Oates. JOHN OATES!!

The gracious, formerly mustachioed, Oates half of the famous duo made a surprise appearance, though not a total surprise -- a second microphone stood expectantly during the first part of the show.

He joined the band onstage for a memorable jam and a much needed "dose of feel-good," following the recent death of longtime Hall & Oates bassist, Tom "T-Bone" Wolk.

George did her best husky-Hall homage while dueting on She's Gone, I Can't Go For That (No Can Do), and Maneater.  Oates seemed shy on vocals, choosing instead to let his guitar do the sexy talkin'.

Thanks to Sirens of Song for the setlist -- I broke my pencil drawing hearts on everything.
