Seven custom-painted, life-size elephant sculptures will appear in Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE — in the heart of downtown Los Angeles — on the corner of S. Figueroa St. and Chick Hearn Ct., just steps from the downtown L.A. location of Wells Fargo Private Bank, the parade's Grand Patron sponsor.
The herd consists of colossal creations from select Elephant Parade® artists including Khloe Kardashian, Andre Miripolski, Sona Mirzaei, and Laura Seeley as well as the newest elephant to join the herd, an elephant that was commissioned by Wells Fargo Private Bank— and designed by Richard Saul Wurman, creator of the globally-acclaimed TED conferences.
“Our love of large creatures is pervasive in mankind. We love animals that reflect our fantasy that is the best of our species. We love whales, dolphins, dogs and elephants, and even monkeys that urinate on us.” – Richard Saul Wurman
The displayed designs are a small part of over 80 –count elephant herd that makes up Elephant Parade: Welcome to America currently on display in Dana Point, CA. This L.A. LIVE installation is a chance for Angelenos to see the colossal creations and help raise awareness about the creative campaign focused on saving the Asian Elephant.
