LOS ANGELES>> Rihanna will receive the first ever “AMA Icon Award” and perform at the 2013 American Music Awards, which will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre at L.A. LIVE on Sunday, dick clark productions announced.

Also scheduled to perform are Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar, Jennifer Lopez, Macklemore Ryan Lewis, One Direction, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, TLC and this year's host, Pitbull.

“The first-ever Icon Award was created to honor an artist whose body of work has made a profound influence over pop music on a global level,” said Larry Klein, the awards producer. “Rihanna's iconic and innovative sound has enabled her to become one of the most influential and best-selling artists of all time.”

 

The American Music Awards are voted on by the fans. For the seventh year in a row, winners will be determined by online voting. Fans can vote at the Coca-Cola AMA voting site AMAvote.com. In addition, for the first time in AMAs history, fans will also be able to vote for their favorite artists via Twitter.

The awards will be telecast on ABC from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.
