The annual Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island, which began in 1959 by folk legend Pete Seeger and festival producer George Wein, is the longest running music festival in the country and has been considered America's original music festival, according to organizers. Way Over Yonder is the California version of the iconic East Coast summer event.
“We can't wait to return to the Pier,” said Newport Folk Festival producer Jay Sweet in a statement. “We made so many new friends on the West Coast last year who made us feel right at home, we're looking forward to reconnecting and meeting a whole bunch more.”
