Premiere showdown

Another "Battle of the Hollywood Premieres" took place Thursday night. It pitted Kate Beckinsale, who starred in "Snow Angels" at the Egyptian, against Courteney Cox, who promoted the second season of "Dirt" at the ArcLight.

Posters of both actresses were strategically placed on the red carpets. Beckinsale was portrayed by a blowup of the current Mean magazine cover, while the Dirt team used a sexy studio shot. Cox might have picked up more points with a faux cover of Dirt Now, the tabloid she edits in the FX series. Kate's snow-white gown outscored Cox's sweater-and-pants look, but we'll call husbands Len Wiseman and David Arquette a draw.

Lake Bell, Jason Reitman, James Franco, Michael Angarano and Olivia Thirlby made it into "Angels," while David Spade, Helen Hunt, Rick Fox, Sharon Lawrence and Alexandra Breckenridge hit "Dirt," which easily won the after-party contest by choosing Beso, the restaurant co-owned by Eva Longoria Parker that has an official opening Thursday.

"It's a remarkably forceful film that takes an exhilarating, painful and poetic look at love," said Beckinsale, who drew on her real-life experiences as a solo mother.
