Spywitness: 'Sarah Marshall' Premiere

“I sincerely want to say ‘I’m sorry’ to every Sarah Marshall in America,” said co-star Kristen Bell.

SPYWITNESS
The rumors of a silent one-minute tribute to the women defamed by provocative ads for “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” were unfounded. But they did get apologies during the Hawaii-themed party following Thursday’s premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

“I sincerely want to say ‘I’m sorry’ to every Sarah Marshall in America,” said co-star Kristen Bell. “The ‘You Do Look Fat In Those Jeans, Sarah Marshall’ ad must upset them all.”

Any chance of compensation?

“If we take in $200 million on opening weekend we’ll buy every Sarah Marshall in the country a new car,” declared director Nicholas Stoller as Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Russell Brand and Ed Norton pretended to ignore grass-skirted hula dancers.

Writer and co-star Jason Segel, who created the character’s name, took it personally.

“I feel terrible for the real Sarah Marshalls but I’ll be happy to take any of them on a date,” said a single Segel, who should be seen naked on screen before any wistful Sarah gives him a call.

Judd Apatow was, despite the Island levity, remarkably unsympathetic.

“I’m still upset that buses won’t let us use the ‘I Hope This Bus Hits Sarah Marshall’ ad,” lamented the producer.
