If cupcakes can be fashionable, then these perfectly frosted cakes with pretty sugar-topping designs are the Marc Jacobs of pastries. Ten to twelve different flavors (from a roster of 20) are baked daily in the sleek little shop, with something to slake any mood: red velvet with cream cheese frosting for a white-trash kind of day, chai latte with chai frosting for a Zen day, peanut butter with chocolate frosting for an inner-child day. And for the traditionalists, there's always vanilla with chocolate frosting or chocolate with vanilla frosting. But this is no Duncan Hines—high-quality ingredients make all the difference.
