Inside, expect to be greeted by expensive sneakers, sweatshirts, trucker hats and lots of chrome (sterling silver actually, but don't tell). On one hand, the available couture is synonymous to Southern California slacker-wear. On the other slightly heavier hand, the trademark Chrome Hearts feel is hard, dark and gothic. Lots of crosses (sans Christ) are evident on nearly all merchandise, and zipper detailing on hoodies and handbags are in the shape of a sword. What this store does is allow the consumer to brand his or her lifestyle items: Chrome-Hearting Ugg boots, a Cartier watch, even Kiehl's lip balm are all practical requests. If this boutique had its way with us, we'd be clad in a wife beater bearing an expletive, a $600 pair of specialized Chuck Taylors, a $17,000 leather/fur coat, wrists bedecked in an upgraded Rolex, and lots and lots of chained jewelry. We'd leave the church grounds, gently shade our eyes with a sparkly pair of sunglasses, light up a cigarette using our brand new Chrome-Hearted Zippo and have ourselves a Chrome-Hearted day. —Lien Ta
