First of all, the store's name has nothing to do with eating too much beans; it's pronounced "F," pause, "art." And we don't think it's telling us to give art the middle finger either. This intimate corner boutique on prime Eagle Rock real estate is stuffed with adorable, artsy knick-knacks, clothing by Gsus and one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry. Vases and storage boxes made of recycled paper are sprinkled among baby accessories, no-purpose greeting cards, Japanese stickers and weird books suitable only for coffee tables with a sense of humor. Paperbacks of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Memories of My Melancholy Whores are for sale; a scale formed like a crate of (rubber) eggs actually makes the act of weighing oneself a fun experience. And if you're some sort of freak for magnets, F*art is for you. —Lien Ta
