Planet Blue--Malibu

At Planet Blue, there are so many T-shirts—from Splendid, Generra and James Perse—all in semi-disasterous, somewhat color-coordinated piles of cotton. Generally speaking, the store is cluttered but appealing and very shop-friendly. It's not one of those boutiques that instill fear; the merchandise is touchable. Oh-so-trendy leggings and cozy jackets from Mike & Chris beg for attention, without discounting the luxurious appeal of the generous selection of dresses, slacks and going-out tops. Denim from Rich & Skinny and Ksubi are staples, and the jewelry selection is eccentric and often expensive. With a unique Cheers vibe, Planet Blue is a surprisingly unpretentious Malibu hangout, and everybody knows your name—even if you're not famous. —Lien Ta
