Maxfield Bleu is the budget sister store to Maxfield, the Melrose store filled with decadent high fashions from Prada and the like. What doesn't get sold at Maxfield gets shipped off to Bleu, with price tags slashed some 55 to 65 percent. This is the perfect outlet for the typical Hollywood shopper (male or female) who covets Lindsay Lohan's $20,000-per-15-minutes method but has a regular person's wallet. Clothes are hospitably arranged by size; pants are separated from tops, which are separated from dresses. It's possible to find that timeless Stella McCartney number from last season with a few zeros knocked off, tucked between some Jil Sander sweaters and lesser-known labels like Rick Owens, an LA.com favorite. Cosa Nostra, the line by "Project Runway" contestant Jeffrey Sebelia, is also available. Bleu beats other haute-bargain basements like New York's famed 21 Century, for example, because it resembles a normal boutique—uncluttered, spacious, elegant. No hair-tugging or Vaseline-applying is necessary. —Lien Ta
