Past J.Crew, down an alley frequented by Whisper Lounge regulars, is the two-story, thumping pulse of fashion authority. Greedy fingers flirt with the 3.1 Phillip Lim and Mason apparel splayed across tipsy clothing rods hanging from the ceiling. Tanks, sweaters and shorts are artistically arranged on vintage furniture, with one table involving a merry-go-round horse. Much of the denim selection is located behind the cash wrap, but it's okay to get behind to frolic among the J Brands, Ksubis and Habituals. The shoe parlor is somewhat sparse, but Miu Miu and Moschino are gorgeous regulars. Accessories like one-of-a-kind belts by Mayle and bags by Botkier and Not Rational are tastefully strewn against a wall, which also boasts hundreds of painted silhouette portraits with bios like "Serena makes booty calls" or "Hollyann is into big stocky men." Speaking of men, scoot up the stairs for the extensive men's collection of Prada, Trovata and Juicy. Our favorite touch: The wee armored knight clutching a man-purse. — Lien Ta
