"Sounds like somebody has a case of the Mondays?" Ah, yes, unfortunately we all know one of those annoyingly cheerful people in need of a hearty dose of reality (i.e. downers).
And at first glance, you might mistake Ole Henriksen for one of them but (surprise!) he's not. Sure, this skincare guru may have earned himself the title "The Happiest Man Alive," and he's definitely got some peppiness going on, but Henriksen is also a genuinely warm person who is so stoked on life that just talking to him makes you feel all tingly inside.
We caught up with this supercharged Hollywood personality just in time for him to kick some happy into our week.
We hear that the Danish press has dubbed you "The Happiest Man Alive." So how does it feel?
"It's a huge honor, but I do know that there are millions upon millions of equally happy people around the world like myself. The reason I've been singled out is largely due to my television series. (Note: Ole has a top rated reality show in his homeland of Denmark. He's pretty much a rockstar over there.) It is this show that allowed me to express the highly energetic and positive side of my personality that is the essence of who I am."
We've also heard that researchers have named Denmark as the happiest country in the world. What gives?
"My fellow Danes know the importance of having balance in their daily life. They put tremendous emphasis on spending time with their loved ones, like family and friends. In addition, they are masters at throwing great parties in connection with events such as national holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. When it comes to work, they operate with focus and dedication, giving their all in that aspect of their daily life. However, I do believe it is their ability to celebrate life in general that makes them the happy people they are!"
How exactly does "The Happiest Man Alive" cheer himself up when he's feeling down?
"I never really feel down to the point of despair. Even though I may not be jumping up and down, smiling and laughing all day long, I do feel an inner peace and contentment that creates harmony and a sense of acquired happiness every awakening hour. My secret to feeling this way is a sense of gratefulness for being part of this world and life in general. Every morning I wake up feeling excited about a new day and the many opportunities and challenges it will offer me."
What advice do you have for all of us to keep smiling despite these tough economic times?
"We need to remind ourselves that some of the most enlightening and wonderful things in life are free. For example, a relaxing walk by the beach, a picnic with friends and family, a hug and a kiss shared with all the people you love, a good laugh and holding a newborn baby. Nothing tops the joy that one gets from moments like these."
True dat. Thanks, Ole!
