Everybody knows that the best part of L.A. is the pools, where business deals, dating, drinking and self-grooming collide. So if you need to fight that Sunday morning hangover, roll out of bed (don't forget to touch up last night's makeup, duh) and head to your nearest hotel for some poolside peacocking.

Zbutton Tried and True: The Roosevelt's Tropicana
Even after several years, this Sunday afternoon party at Tropicana is still one of the most packed and most fun. Come early-ish to snag a lounge chair, or plan on shacking up with whichever acquiantance has a couch (and some food). The crowd is good mix between scenester-hipster, struggling musician, and "working" model. Thrown by the Davids and JP Rodriguez from The Alliance, Sarah does the door, so expect a similiar crowd (and attitude) to Teddy's. Best to look the part if you don't know any of the aforementioned.

Sundays, noon-6pm

ZbuttonThe Best View: The Thompson Beverly Hills
Perched on the roof of the Thompson, high above Beverly Hills, is the city's latest pool with the greatest panorama of the city (and hotties, whatever you're into). There's a nice mix of off-duty promoters (and subsequent hangers-on) along with young creatives that makes the bar and the in-demand cabanas the place to be. Michael Bellasario and Bardot's Jason Scoppa handle the RSVPs. You definitely need to know someone to get up to the roof level--it's card-access only.

Sundays, noon-6pm

ZbuttonThe Newbie: W Hotel--Westwood
The W is gathering together some of the city's biggest trendsetters--like BoxEight, the artist-fashion coop led by Pete Gurnz--to host its new, weekly pool party called Wet. This just-launched Sunday afternoon is putting the panache back into pool. Come for brunch and definitely bring your bathing suit--these cats are serious about their water sports. The Westside location means a broader mix of beach bums with industry creatives and photog/model/artist types.

Sundays, noon-6pm

ZbuttonThe Antidote: The Standard Downtown
DanceRight's Swimming with Sharks is back for another summer, so like all their parties, come ready to strike a pose! Jiro Schneider will be setting up his usual photo shoot (which means great lighting, cool backdrops, generally everything to make you look great) while The Squid will be shooting roaming shots (so unfortunately, this really means you watch out for any overt signs of a hangover, like drool, etc.). Don't forget to bring your on watergun, which will be much more fun after you've had a free Jell-O shot (or four). Also, there's $4 beer along with a $35 champagne special. RSVP required; first 100 people are free, then $10 after with RSVP.

Every three Sundays (starting June 13), noon-sundown
