There's something wrong with the world when Levi Johnston and La Toya Jackson cause a ripple of excitement at a Hollywood party, especially one purporting to turn the spotlight on "Hollywood's Hottest Stars."
But there they were last night (11/18/09), front and center at the jam-packed US Weekly magazine bash celebrating the rag's "Hot Hollywood" Fall issue. He's famous because he forgot to wear a condom; she's riding the wave of her brother Michael's untimely death back into the spotlight. Just goes to show that Andy Warhol was right, and fifteen minutes is truly all it takes to end up in the thick thistle of Tinseltown.
Word has it that 53-year-old La Toya's got a plan to do more than just sit in the audience of "Dancing with the Stars" next season, so it was no surprise that she worked the room filled with "DWTS" players. Mya waltzed her way into the crush, along with Cheryl Burke, Aaron Carter, Karina Smirnoff, Chelsie Hightower, and Melissa Joan Hart. She's proven that she can't really sing, so happily she won't be hitting "American Idol," whose recent finalists Kris Allen and Adam Lambert mugged it up for the cameras.
Lambert and Allen -- who really do have talent, and actually are hot in Hollywood -- were highlighted in a slideshow playing on the main wall of Voyeur, the bondage-themed WeHo club that housed the event. Chicks in leather get-ups cavorted in cages as the honorees' photos scrolled by on an ever-repeating loop. Olivia Wilde checked out her photo from the middle of the mosh pit-esque party; she looked gorgeous in a white silk Marchesa Bridal cocktail dress, as did the other gals who made the "Hot Hollywood" cut.
Mya was on that list, along with Anika Noni Rose, Kristen Cavallari, Julie Bowen, Jenna Fischer, Leona Lewis, and Eliza Dushku (who brought some serious arm candy, ex-Lakers star Rick Fox). LL Cool J looked dapper but showed up sans his "NCIS: LA" partner in crime Chris O'Donnell, who was down the street at the GQ Men of the Year fete at Chateau Marmont. Carl's Jr. sexport shiller Audrina Patridge found her own new partner in crime at the bash; she and "Glee" star Mark Salling couldn't be pried apart all night.
And in the usual rich-get-richer credo of Hollywood hotties, the biggest draw of the night was the True Religion swag table, where celebs like Rachael Leigh Cook, Ali Landry, Bridget Marquadt, Julie Benz, Whitney Port, and Kevin McHale grabbed up jeans, hoodies and perfumes.
As partygoers drifted out to the jammed-up valet, discussions swirled about where to go next. Olivia Wilde and Eva Amurri hit the GQ event, Audrina Patridge and Caroline D'Amore the Samsung Behold II launch. Seems that when you've really got the heat, the "Hot Hollywood" thing to do, is party hop.
