There
were two hot topics at the "Crazy Heart" premiere after party on
Tuesday night. The first: Will Jeff Bridges finally win his Oscar for
his performance as a down-and-out drunken country singer in the flick?
The second (and the same question that's been on everyone's lips): What the heck was Tiger Woods thinking?
"I had such a good time making this movie," Bridges said, as Susan, his wife of more than 30 years, stuck close to his side in the lobby party held after the film unspooled at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. "And the Oscar talk is a real bonus. But you never know about that stuff, do you?"
"Crazy Heart's" genius music composer and producer T-Bone Burnett threw in his two cents, adding that "Jeff played and sang all the songs, and he gives an incredible performance, too." In fact, everyone seemed to agree that Bridges is a sure contender, despite mixed feelings swirling around the room about the film itself.
Sentiments about the Tiger Woods scandal were swirling too, as hugely famous faces clung to their significant others, working the theory that if you're with your celebrity spouse, he can't be off cheating with anyone else. Married movie stars Diane Lane and Josh Brolin joined Robert Duvall and his pretty fourth wife Luciana Pedraza; Gary Busey squired his much-younger (and pregnant) girlfriend Stephanie Samuelson, and model-turned-actress Susan Blakely bussed Stephen Jaffe (the über crisis management PR pro), her hubbie of almost 30 years.
Susie pointed out the massive age difference between Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal, his co-star in "Crazy Heart"--he's 60, she's 32-- while Steve had Tiger on his mind.
"He may be done for," the longtime spin-doctor posited. "With his injuries, and all these women coming forward, he may not even have golf to keep him warm."
There were plenty of single stars scattered all over the bash, reminding us that if you're rich, famous and attractive, maybe not having a spouse is the way to go. Never married Jacqueline Bisset looked gorgeous as usual, Sharon Stone carefully avoided running into ex-boyfriend Dwight Yoakam, Skeet Ulrich slipped quietly through, Fran Drescher chatted up Duvall, Stefanie Powers and Frances Fisher looked like twins, and Maggie's brother Jake Gyllenhaal snuck in for the screening only, with no sign of current galpal Reese Witherspoon. Even Maggie left hubby Peter Sarsgaard at home.
Funnyman Eric Idle proudly brought his beautiful wife, former model Tania Kosevich to party; they've been married for 28 years, and Idle jokingly explained how they've stayed together--and obviously still happy.
"I never took up golf!" he cracked.
