Nearly every Coachella-related story I write includes a reference to the cartoon below. Why? Because I'm a child, but also because I suspect there is a measurable link between the festival's success and a multi-generational absorption of the 1953 Chuck Jones classic.

In this seven minute Loony Tune, Mr. Bunny, through a series of missteps, finds himself, quite literally, in the middle of a bullfight on his way to the Coachella Valley (for The Big Carrot Festival, therein).

I clumsily posit that when we were all spongy-brained children, the seed of the dream of reaching the Coachella Valley was planted by Bully For Bugs, compelling each us to find our way there. As a result, the choices we thought we made, were never really choices at all. Rather, Bugs has been pushing us... pushing us to the desert.

Maybe I'll write a thesis about it if I ever go back to school. Even if I go to study biochemisty, this will still be my thesis.
