Welcome to Los Angeles. Home of the World Champion… Clippers? Just last year even the thought of uttering that phrase would have surely landed you in the loony bin. Los Angeles was Lakers country and anyone that disagreed just looked like an idiot. But then something strange happened. Over the course of a few days last December, the Clippers acquired Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups, who together with future Hall of Famer Blake Griffin, seemingly made the team really, really good overnight. Perhaps miracles really do happen? Now with a little over a month until the playoffs start, the Clippers and Lakers are in a virtual dead heat for first place in their division. The jury's still out on whether or not the Clippers have it in them to steam past their hometown rivals and bring home a championship. In the meantime, only one basketball team in Los Angeles has Jack Nicholson sitting courtside at every game. Oh and 16 championships (how could I have forgotten?). But before the Lakers attempt to reclaim their title as L.A.'s favorite basketball team, they'll first have to face-off with those show-offs from the East. You may know them as the Miami Heat. The Heat already have a strong lead in their division but you can still expect a dogfight when they square off with Kobe and company this Sunday at the Staples Center.
