The Valley can be somewhat of a dead zone when it comes to decent late night food. Sure there are lots of drive-thru taco places with Del and Bell in their name. But what if you're in the mood for something a little less… processed. Do those places exist in Burbank? Well, I guess you'll have to keep reading.
Bob's Big Boy: Everyone who's driven through Burbank has at one time seen the iconic 70-foot sign touting Bob's. So what's all the fuss about? Ask anyone who's been to Bob's and they'll tell you it's their famous double decker “big boy” hamburger. But I like to think that people have made Bob's a Southern California icon for over 60 years for one reason and one reason only – the milkshakes. Not only do they come in a 50s-style silver goblet, but they're also made with natural ingredients like milk and ice cream. Try one and you too will have a reason to come back. Bob's is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Coral Cafe: If you're one of those foodies that likes just about everything, then the wide-ranging menu at Coral Cafe will have you doing flips. Well, figuratively speaking, of course. They have breakfast, salads, burgers, soups, hot sandwiches and cold ones, wraps, and a variety of vegetarian options. They even have nachos! In fact, you could probably spend a few hours reading through every item of their book-length menu. But I wouldn't recommend it. Coral Cafe is open 24 hours.

Harry's Family Restaurant: Breakfast 24 hours a day, every day – like the sound of that? Well, that's what you get at Harry's Family Restaurant in Burbank. Of course there are dinner items on the menu – like their crispy country fried

Michael's Bar & Grill: Walk into Michael's on any night, and it wouldn't be a surprise if you saw a couple of patrons singing a beer-fueled rendition of Journey's “Don' Stop Believin'”. What may pass as just your run-of-the-mill karaoke, however, is also one of the better spots in Burbank for late night grub. Just about everything on their Cajun-themed menu is good, from the blackened chicken po' boy, to the jambalaya. And most entrees come with something called spoon bread, which is pudding bread you can eat with a spoon (go figure!). Michael's is open until 2 a.m. most nights.
2825 W. Olive Ave., 91505; 818-842-3700
The Office: Whether it's happy hour with co-workers, or a late night meal with friends, The Office in Burbank is sure to satisfy. They offer a late night menu every Sunday to Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. It includes a cheeseburger with fries for $7.50, and tacos, hot wings, chicken strips and onion rings, all for under $6.

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse: What is a pizookie? Walk into BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in Burbank and you'll never ask that question again. It's a chocolate chip cookie; it's two generous scoops of vanilla ice cream; it's out of this world good! So what more is there to really talk about? How about the fact that aside from its dangerously delicious desserts, BJ's is also serving up mouth watering burgers, steaks, and deep dish pizza until 1 a.m. on the weekends. And of course, there's always the pizookie. When something's this tasty, it just bares repeating.

Granville Café: So why is it called a gourmet café? I mean, that's kind of an oxymoron, right? That would probably be the case if Granville Café was a dingy, hole-in-the-wall diner, but walk in and you'll see that not only is it clean (spotless is probably a better word), but the staff is always friendly, and the food… well, let's just say they have gourmet grilled cheese dippers on the menu. It's basically a grilled cheese sandwich with caramelized onions, mustard and garlic aioli, that comes served with a side of garlic tomato bisque for dipping. Feeling hungry? Granville Café is open until 11 p.m. on the weekends, with another location in nearby Glendale.

Tony's Darts Away: Only at Tony's Darts Away can you choose from over 40 specialty California craft brews, while you dine on any of their tasty vegan food options. And you thought Burbank was the land of carnivores? Shame on you! Tony's serves a variety of vegan sausages – all of which are imported from that faraway land known as the Pacific Northwest – including Italian sausage, beer brats, and apple sausage topped with grilled onions and mango melon salsa. Who knew vegans could eat this well? Now if someone could just explain what Tony's Darts Away means, I'd feel a lot more comfortable calling it by its full name. Tony's (Darts Away) is open until 2 a.m., Monday thru Saturday.

Great Wok: If you're a fan of wonton soup, than you'll love Great Wok in Burbank. They use delicious, homemade broth (not the store bought stuff), and load it up with shrimp, chicken, veggies and lots of enormous wontons! All their portions are big and plentiful, and most meals cost under $10. Other menu favorites include their tangy sweet and sour chicken, and BBQ pork fried rice. Great Wok is open until 10:30 p.m. on the weekends.

Joe's Great American Bar & Grill: Sure it's a bar, but for delicious comfort food late at night you can't go wrong with Joe's. How comforting is it? How about spicy buffalo wings, chicken quesadillas, chili cheese fries, and taquitos served with guacamole and sour cream – and those are just the appetizers! Joe's also has plenty of hot and cold sandwiches, like turkey with Swiss cheese, roast beef, and tuna, as well as several different burgers – all of which come with a side of steak fries and cole slaw. And the best part is, almost everything on their menu is under $10. Joe's Great American Bar & Grill is open until 2 a.m., seven nights a week.

Buffalo Wild Wings: When it doubt, just eat wings. That should be the mantra of Buffalo Wild Wings in Downtown Burbank. Because let's face it, those in the mood for chicken wings after midnight have very few options. Sure there's always 7-Eleven. But no self-respecting wing lover would ever reduce himself to eating something that processed (unless, of course, he's really, really desperate). That's where a place like BBW comes in handy. It's close, their wings are always fresh and delicious, and they're open until 2 a.m. Need I say more?

Tinhorn Flats: Who doesn't like fried pickles with their burgers? Never had them? Well at Tinhorn Flats in Burbank you can get them, as well all types of burgers, sandwiches, and salads, well into the wee morning hours. The fried pickles, however, are clearly where it's at. Try some with a side of ranch, and you're guaranteed to become an instant convert. Tinhorn Flats closes at midnight.

Viva Cantina: Aside from their food, which is served until midnight on the weekends, Viva Cantina is also known for its classic live entertainment. Of course, it helps if you're into rockabilly and 50s style cowboy music. But hey, there's nothing wrong with trying something new for a change. As far as the menu goes, Viva Cantina is serving up everything from pizzas and burgers, to burritos and tacos. You can check out their full menu by visiting www.vivacantina.com.

Of course what they're really known for is their pizza. Sure you can get traditional toppings like pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. Lame! Or you can spice things up a little bit and try their specialty pies, like garlic chicken, BBQ jumbo shrimp, or Hawaiian-style. They even have a margarita pizza, which comes with white sauce, fresh tomatoes, ricotta cheese and fresh basil. Oh were you thinking it had alcohol in it? Well, you should still try it anyway.
