LOS ANGELES (December 6, 2012) - In what continues to be a defining year for veteran DJ Kaskade and electronic dance music (EDM) in general, he has been nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Dance/Electronica Album for "Fire & Ice," it was announced last night. Winners will be announced at the upcoming 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards set to take place on February 10, 2013. This marks the first time that Kaskade's been nominated for a GRAMMY Award.
The dual-disc "Fire & Ice" was released on Ultra Music in October 2011, and is Kaskade's seventh studio album. The Fire disc contains ten original songs geared firmly toward the dance floor, while on the Ice disc, Kaskade delivers the perfect down-tempo post-club experience by remixing all
2012 has been a milestone year for Kaskade. In addition to "Fire & Ice" tracks such as "Room for Happiness" burning up the dance charts, Kaskade made EDM history with his record-breaking North American "Freaks of Nature" tour that included headlining slots at some of the top summer music festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza, and numerous large arenas. He also earned the distinction of being the first electronic dance artist to ever not only solo-headline Los Angeles' Staples Center, but to also sell out the iconic venue.
