Feeling bummed because Valentine's Day is Thursday? Even if you're currently between relationships, no one should have to feel lonely this February 14th. There are plenty of fun events happening around the city that are strictly for singles. Here are five you'll want to check out.

Birds: The V-Day party at Birds in Hollywood isn't as much a mixer as it is an anti-Valentine's Day celebration attended by dozens of people who just happen to be single. Get it? The festivities begin at 8 p.m. and include cheap martinis, voodoo therapy for the recently dumped, and a contest for the best story break-up story. It may be the one time in your life where you can win a prize for getting dumped via text message.

8 p.m. at 5925 Franklin Ave., Hollywood; 323-465-0175

UCB: For some people, Valentine's Day is no laughing matter – especially if you're single. Which is why you should head over to the Upright Citizen's Brigade in Hollywood for their V-Day themed improv show. The performers will build the show around love stories gone awry. We're talking teenage crushes, unrequited love, and horrific blind dates. Why feel bad about your own failings in the relationship department, after all, when you can just as easily laugh at someone else's? Then afterwards, you'll have the opportunity to mix it up with other singles in the crowd. As you can probably imagine, there will be plenty to choose from.

9:30 p.m. at UCB, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hollywood; 323-908-8702

Lucky Strike: Speed dating and bowling – does life get any better than that? You can do both this Valentine's Day when Lucky Strike Hollywood hosts its Single's Day Party. It all begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday with happy hour food and drink specials, followed by a speed dating event from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., and then a singles mixer from 11 p.m. to close. Bowling is 5 bucks, Bud Lights are $3, and the bartenders will even be serving up a special cupid shuffle drink for $5. Plus DJ Catwalk will be there to spin tunes throughout the night. For more information, check out Lucky Strike Hollywood's website.

6 p.m. at 6801 Hollywood Blvd #143, 90028; 323-467-7776

The Other Door: The Other Door in North Hollywood is hosting a My Bitter Valentine event, where you can dress up in all black, drink fancy cocktails, and chat it up with other singles while you jam out to some live music. Cover charge is $5 and includes shots of Sweet Misery or Bitter Regret if you dress up in black. The fun starts at 8 p.m.; check the website for more details.

8 p.m. at 10437 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood; 818-508-7008

OkCupid's West Hollywood Singles Mixer: Why wouldn't one of the most popular dating sites on the web hosts it very own V-Day singles mixer? Makes sense, right? The only downside to OkCupid's V-Day event is that you'll actually have to talk to real live human beings without the assistance of a technical device. That means no iPhones, and no iPads! The V-Day mixer will take place at Banana Republic, located at the Grove on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The booze is free, a DJ will be spinning tunes, and all clothes in the store will be discounted by up to 40%. So even if you fail to make a connection, at least you won't have to leave empty handed.

7 p.m. at 189 The Grove Drive, 90036; 323-692-5020
