INDIO - Sigur Ros and New Order entertained their audiences Saturday night at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival despite brief sound mishaps at their respective stages.
Sigur Ros, toward the end of its set, had the sound at the Outdoor Theatre stage go out for nearly a minute that featured fans clapping along before officials were able to turn it back on.
The Reykjavík, Iceland's dream pop and post rock sound seemed to win over any unsure fans while they used black and white videography on side screens to enhance their set.
Salford, England's New Order started after group members of Joy Division decided to come together to create new music after Joy Division member Ian Curtis committed suicide in 1980.
The group performed Joy Division's single "Love Will Tear Us Apart" early Sunday morning as the words "Forever Joy Division" were showcased behind the band in the Mojave Tent to loud applause.
Before the song, however, the group had sound issues with Joy Division's "Atmosphere," which led to the group just playing the instrumental to the song after a few early verses.
