Khloe Kardashian filed for divorce from Lamar Odom on Friday, her husband of more than four years, citing irreconcilable differences.
The move comes after months of speculation that their marriage was on the rocks due to Odom's alleged drug use and infidelity, which Kardashian has hinted at throughout this season's "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
She has been spotted without her wedding ring recently, including on the red carpet of The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Breakfast in Beverly Hills earlier this week. In her filing, she also asks to restore her name, dropping Odom.
It has been reported by various media that although the youngest Kardashian sister appeared to be sticking by her basketball player's side, she was only stalling the divorce due to fear it would push Odom over the edge and lead to a possible overdose.
Odom, formerly with the Lakers and Clippers, is currently a free agent.
As the drama has come to light, Kardashian has posted cryptic messages on Twitter. On Thursday, the reality star posted a photo that read: "I am strong because I've been weak. I am fearless because I've been afraid. I am wise because I've been foolish."
What wasn't foolish is the duo apparently have an "iron-clad" prenup. They got married after 30 days of dating, which, of course, was shown on the family's reality TV show.
While 2013 may have been a rough year for the Kardashian, there might be a silver lining. Hollywood Life is reporting she has already moved on with a different kind of ball player, Dodgers star Matt Kemp, who has been linked to Rihanna in the past. Citing "sources," the entertainment website also notes that both Kardashian and Kemp posted the same photo of Kris Jenner's Christmas tree on Instagram.
Only time will tell.
