The last day of the first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival continued to pile on the surpises mixed in with main stage artists being cut off.
Headliners Arcade Fire performed with Blondie's Debbie Harry and closed out their show with the Preservation Jazz Hall Band. While Beck showed the crowd he could still bust a move, even though it was not enough to prevent him or Arcade Fire's sets from being cut off Sunday night on the main stage.
Arcade Fire was not the only group to have special guests as heavy metal's Motorhead brought out former Guns N'Roses guitarist Slash in the Mojave tent and electro house's Adventure Club had a brief appearance from The Kite String Tangle in the Sahara tent.
At the Outdoor Theatre, next to the main Coachella stage, English house duo Disclosure welcomed guest English singer/songwriter Sam Smith.
Otherwise, the day featured stellar sets from new wave/indie pop's Blood Orange and Neutral Milk Hotel, who refused access for media photographers to shoot their set, hours earlier at the same theatre.
New York house duo Duck Sauce also crafted a sharp set Sunday night in the Sahara tent sending everyone home happy with their hit “Barbara Streisand.”
While Lana Del Rey treated fans with a premiere to a new song,The Naked and Famous were just as happy at festival-goers to be performing and attending their first Coachella.
The New Zealand band weren't the only ones, Noelie Martin, made it to her first festival.
The 24-year-old Phoenix native said she was at the fest to catch several acts including Sunday night's closer, Arcade Fire.“It was epic,” she said. “Life changing for sure, and worth every penny.
