Located in the Cahuenga Corridor, this is perhaps LA's most unassuming but worthwhile music venue.

In its first incarnation, the Cafe was a 50-person-capacity venue with 10 tables and a small stage that sat street-side—but headlining artists like Alexi Murdoch, Gary Jules and Gomez singer/songwriter Ian Ball were nothing to scoff at. The spot soon became an essential part of LA's new folk scene. Its recent revamp hasn't diminished the Cafe's intimate appeal or cozy vibe, though it now holds 200 people, has a full liquor license and serves food. The lighting is low, the bartenders are friendly, the makeover is chic and comfortable, and the headliners, like Imogen Heap, Deathcab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley, John Mayer and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, still amaze.—Alexandra Le Tellier
