There's a breezy insolence inherent in a dinner excursion at this restaurant in and around the Mondrian hotel, one that can be quite enjoyable under the right circumstances. Within the white-on-white Philippe Starck interior, the sumptuous white leather chairs are made for leaning back to savor the playful Asian-Latin cuisine. The menu offers big—and big-budget—portions of shareable dishes like calamari salad, miso-cured Alaskan butterfish and coconut layer cake. The outdoor patio is one of the best in LA, with tiny votives clustered amid gargantuan potted ficus trees and bougainvillea; the views of the city are to die for. You can even hear scantily clad hotties cooing at the velvet-roped SkyBar next door.
