Small. Busy. Lines out the door. The pungent smell of garlic wafts through the parking lot. And, upon entrance, sweet, cheap bliss.

This is LA's most well-known Cuban eatery, and it makes our mouths water just thinking about it. The menu is large and unwieldy, so take our advice: Roast pork or roast chicken, both of which come with black beans, white rice, tons of onions and sweet fried plantains. That's all you need to know. Well, OK, there are a lot of other options like liver and onions, steak and even a burger—but why go for American diner staples? —Lesley Balla

It's all about the garlic chicken. Heaped upon with their famous garlic lemon sauce. Try dipping the sweet fried plantains into the sauce and watch your taste buds explode between the tart tangy and the sweet and chewy. Its all good. ya meng.
