The CourtyardTop alfresco tapas ![]() Taking inspiration from Spanish cities like Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid and Valencia, this mostly outdoor neighborhood tapas spot is a perfect fit for WeHo.Surrounded by tall magnolia trees, The Courtyard's courtyard even houses the small bar and lounge; inside, exposed brick walls, red banquettes and eclectic artwork create a lively, breezy vibe around a smattering of wood-topped tables. Plenty of nabe bars are walkable, making this a great place to start or end a night, but it's an equally fun place to start and end the night. As tapas continues its quest for LA domination, options veer from actual Spanish cuisine to "small plates" that usually have nothing to do with Spanish cuisine at all. The Courtyard's menu is fairly authentic but undeniably Mediterranean-inspired. Included are sweet red peppers stuffed with cumin-spiked goat cheese, croquetas, garlicky shrimp and perfectly grilled lamb chops. The communal bites are complemented by three sangria choices; entrees like paella or sea bass satisfy those who never learned to share. Too bad they'll miss out on fun dessert samplers like the trio of rich banana pudding, dreamy chocolate mousse and creamy arroz con leche. —Lesley Balla
