This airy, art-filled space opened in 1987 in the heart of Venice's Abbot Kinney neighborhood. Any day of the week, any time of day, Hal's is where locals congregate for a cold beer or a quick snack. The food ranges from a great burger and crisp fries to American kobe steak with apricot barbecue sauce to grilled salmon with blood-orange ponzu sauce. It's seasonal, colorful and eclectic, just like the crowd. There's no cover charge for the live jazz on Sundays from 8pm to 11pm and Mondays from 9pm to 12am.
