Why is it that in health- and image-conscious LA, our favorite restaurants are divey little stands that serve greasy food usually smothered in chili? Pink's, LA's favorite chili-dog vendor, is no exception; in business for more than 65 years, it may have started the trend.

With lines down the block at almost all hours, Pink's is perhaps LA's most beloved hot-dog stand and one of the country's most famous. The hot dogs are tasty all-beef and smothered with the stand's proprietary chili and cheese, keeping many a gastroenterologist in business over the years. Pink's also serves Polish sausages, turkey dogs and veggie dogs, and the requisite fries and onion rings. There's a little seating area with a wall covered in glossy, signed photos from the dozens of famed celebs who, like the rest of us, crave a good chili cheese dog once in awhile.
