Ocean Avenue SeafoodIt ain't the motion of the ocean, but the size of the oyster selection ![]() Since the late '80s, this Santa Monica seafood house has drawn a somewhat sophisticated yet beachy crowd. The room is flush with earth tones and dark woods from tropical locales, and the patio overlooks the oceanall contributing to a casual, island-esque vibe. The menu features all sorts of seafood and shellfish from around the globe, but the oyster selection is by far one of the best in LA (second only to the Water Grill, which is owned by the same company). If you have a penchant for the briny bivalves but need a primer on the different kinds, not only are oysters listed by region, but a short descriptive message explains the different nuances, making it easier to choose. If you're still undecided, get the sampler paired with wines. A daily happy hour (from 3pm-5pm) has oysters for only $.99 apiece.
