This sleek upscale restaurant in Union Station is a delicious addition to the Downtown restaurant scene.

A designer's dream of muted colors bathed in a golden glow (with a courtyard patio that's breathtaking when the jacaranda are in bloom), the interior is a stark contrast to the bustling train station surrounding it. And Chef Tara Thomas' crab cakes are among the city's best: Odd-shaped balls coated with Japanese bread crumbs and deep-fried to a golden brown. Bite into them and at first there is only air, a magical illusion that gives way to seductive, creamy crab meat. The house-cured pork chop is another winner, all salty sweetness and tender meat, coated with caramelized prosciutto and rosemary. For something lighter, try the fennel-scented prawns with asparagus risotto and English peas. A visit here is worthwhile even if you're not heading out on Amtrak.
