For years, the Patina Group's jewel in its upscale restaurant crown was its mod space on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood. With the opening of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Patina picked up stakes and moved to the city's newest architectural and cultural landmark.

Patina chef/owner Joachim Splichal already runs four locations Downtown, but his latest foray into urban LA eating takes the best of the old Hollywood location and makes it stronger. The killer wine list is still in place, but the bright interior is a step up from the muted Melrose space. The tasting menus are still a good bet; parties of between eight and 10 people should splurge and book the chef's table. The seafood is top notch, and even the wild game menu is palatable enough to tempt unadventurous diners with partridge and pigeon. Vitamin C aficionados will dig the blood-orange mousse and candied and dried orange tuile covered in Grand Marnier sauce. —Lesley Balla
