LA diners don't have too many choices when it comes to high-altitude dining, but one often-overlooked culinary eagle perch is the pinnacle of Downtown's Transamerica building, where gourmet meals are served on the 32nd floor.

A free-shot's throw from the Staples Center, the aptly named Windows has benefited from Downtown's recent renaissance thanks to hungry sports-lovers and concert-goers who feel dinner is better with a view of something besides a Jumbotron. The pub menu at the bar is geared to the standard "burgers and fries" Staples palate, but Windows does also offer diners a full range of steaks, fish and sit-down restaurant fare. Be warned—if the game goes into overtime or the band takes a few extra encores, you may be out of luck because of the relatively early closing time.
