Ngoma spices up the Mid Wilshire area with traditional dishes from Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Senegal and Nigeria.

The menu is broken up into two regions, East Africa and West Africa, and also includes a sizeable veggie section. Go for the irio and stew on the East side—that's potatoes, maize and peas cooked and mashed together with beef or chicken, or try the West African egusi soup, which is made from crushed melon seed mixed with bitter-leaf, ground crayfish, dried smoked fish, stockfish and meat. Since Ngoma is a fairly traditional African restaurant, eating with your fingers is encouraged, but touchy types can ask for silverware. Either way, wash your hands first.
