The sport here isn't polo, it's people-watching: Young wannabes prance around hoping to be discovered by the old men showing off their young dates.

Few places typify Beverly Hills like The Polo Lounge, home to some of the Rat Pack's greatest binges. Now a blend of Hollywood yesteryear and Hollywood tomorrow, the place still resonates with power and glamour. No T-shirts and flip-flops here; the dress code is described as business-casual. (Shorts aren't allowed after 6pm.) The restaurant is a sea of rooms, all done up in preppy pink and green, draped with white floral linens and twinkling lights. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and late dinner are all options here, and jazz accompaniment is often a factor. One of the best times for a drink is the 5pm-8pm cocktail hour when free chips, chunky guacamole and homemade salsa are served.
