ToastSidewalks of New York, but in LA ![]() Displaced New Yorkers mix with agency hotheads and low-key celebs at this bakery and restaurant with a lively sidewalk scene. The wait on the weekends is worth it.Breakfast is served all day; lunch and dinner are not. In fact, dinner is really only available for takeout since the doors lock up at 6pm. Sandwiches and soups show an attention to freshness and detail. Juices, smoothies and more indulgent options including buzz-inducing hot chocolate, pancakes and French toast give a taste of what's available from within the homey bakery counter inside, stocked with cupcakes and other diet-blasting delights. Casual tables and couches fill the large indoor space comfortably; the sidewalk is almost always bustling with diners, those waiting to dine, and small dogs owned by all of the above. It might take you by the holiday strings and never let go.—Lonny Pugh
