The newest incarnation of restaurateur Jonathan Morr’s New York franchise, BondSt in the Thompson Beverly Hills (another East-Coast transplant), provides a sophisticated Gotham vibe to a decidedly L.A. setting.

Seating options abound—from the long, open dining room, to the sheltered patio, to the communal table near the front, which was lovingly crafted out of huge pieces of a millennial walnut tree.
Relax into the soothing earth-tone color scheme accented by graceful orchid blooms, and prepare to dig in.
For an appetizer, the seared tuna with foie gras in a plum wine glaze served over spiced pear chutney is pure decadence on a plate.
The creamy richness of the foie gras plays off the silky tuna slices and the spicy sweetness of the pear to create a transcendent taste experience that brings together the best of Japanese flavor and French preparation.
Other appealing options include the goat cheese crab cakes; the scallop carpaccio over a calamari granite with tarragon oil; and the sake-braised short ribs.
For those whose tastes are more tuned to California’s particular style of sushi, try the spicy tuna roll with a chili mayonnaise that gives it that extra kick (make sure you have water on hand).
Also not to miss is the sesame-crusted shrimp roll with avocado that comes with a few different dipping sauces like the orange curry dressing, and is covered in crispy rice balls that make it fun to crunch.
Bigger entrees include the mature yet mild farm-raised Chilean sea bass in a sweet saikiyo miso glaze over a bed of bak choi and with a piquant garnish of Japanese radish.
The extensive cocktail, wine and sake menus also provide well-priced options for those coming just for a drink in the cozy, vintage-inspired second-floor lounge, or a tipple at ABH, the rooftop terrace and pool bar with amazing 360-degree views of the city.
