Salvaged from half of the former Tiger Lily, Mes Amis is a cozy new spot to meet friends and make friends in Los Feliz.

Its white façade is embellished with a simple metalwork structure that alternately suggests an art nouveau Paris Metro sign -- or a missing awning.
Take a seat at one of the casually colorful tables outside as you watch the world walk by, or head indoors to the more serious dining room whose sumptuous leather booths are lit by candles and soundtracked by Edith Piaf.
Though the menu is comprised of classic French dishes, they’ve all been given a California makeover.
Take, for instance, a dowdy old terrine of foie gras—tasty, sure—but at Mes Amis, it comes with an apricot compote, and is served with brioche and pears. Even a normally exciting soft-shell crab salad gets a sexy makeover with roasted eggplant salad and olive tapenade. Thin crust pizzas are topped by combinations like prawns with pastis, fennel, garlic and parsley.
Don’t fill up before the main course though, because options like the rabbit prepared three ways, the duck confit cannelloni, and the prosciutto-wrapped monkfish with shiitake mushrooms are too good to miss.
There’s a children’s menu with mini grilled cheese, mini pizza, and a grilled nutella sandwich to keep the little tykes occupied before they’re ready to graduate to the bouillabaisse. Brunch is also a great option here, with omelettes, beignets and salads to satisfy tout le monde.
The menu, with main courses ranging between $18-31, might seem a little pricey (though the wine list is quite reasonable). But what do you expect with the euro doing so well compared to the dollar?
