Reduced-Rate Ways to Rest Your Recessionary Head in Cali, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Mexico

The Coliseum Pool at The Resort at Pelican Hill is comprised of more than 1 million glass mosaic tiles were laid by hand to form a perfect circle (136 feet in diameter). (Courtesy image) Plain and simple, this is a collection of deals that will help recharge the batteries without draining the funds ... a one-stop look at some hotel deals that may entice enough to try a new destination, a new level of accommodation or just a quick weekend getaway. We're not trying to be comprehensive -- the entire interwebs is good at that. And we get no moneys or remuneration for these suggestions, btw. You can buy us a drink, but you can't buy our opinions.
To make things a little easier to wrangle we've generally limited our scope to California Wine Country(ish) to the north, Hawaii to the west, Cabo San Lucas to the south and Las Vegas and Phoenix-area to the east.
If you hear of anything or wish to submit something for listing consideration, first go here and "add to our listings" on the right-hand side. Then you can email us that link to Editorial@LA.com as well.
LAS VEGAS
A Smattering of Deals from Sin City
This one is from BookIt.com: Treasure Island - Las Vegas - from $89/nt plus 2 Mystere Show Tickets included: Reg. $199 - Save 55%
Never one to rest, Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach is a destination spot that seems to constantly evolve. style="font-family: Verdana;">
HAWAII
1) Maui's Grand Wailea FIVE FOR FIVE
This is pretty sweet deal when you factor in the level of experience you're copping a deal on. If you stay five consecutive nights you receive a $500 resort credit for dining, spa, golf, activities ... even the boutiques. And with fall rates starting at $369, that's not too shabby (chic). Travel dates for this deal are Sept 1 - Dec 21 (winter solstice in Hawaii?! Sweet.)
There's a bonus for those who have racked up extra vacation to burn, too: six or more paid consecutive nights and you get an additional night, free. And clear. (Does not apply to the luxury villas, but if you're resting your head in those, you don't really need the freebie, do ya?)
2) "A Thousand Reasons to Smile" Campaign from Hawaii's CVB Has Many LA Connections
Hawaii is a five-hour hop and LA takes full advantage of that proximity. The recent downturn has opened up some rooms though, and the CVB is taking the offensive in some unique ways, including a Pandora radio station, Facebook and Twitter accounts, and cooking classes at Farmer's Market. Those sites will post special deals to the islands, as well. The breakdown goes like this...
Cirque du Soleil's newest extravaganza is Kooza -- and there are deals to be had on tickets at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica. Verdana;">
3) Eight-person Villa Options on Kuai at 50 Percent Off
If you break it down -- and really, really like your travel buddies -- this is a pretty sweet way to experience Hawaii. Even Thanksgiving is offered at a lower price point. It's a six-day minimum stay, but you'd want that long to get the sand into and then out of your ears anyway.
From their release:
Tropical Villa Vacations is offering introductory rates for Ocean Dreams Villa for its first year. Ordinarily, the full nightly rate would be $2,500. However, through December 18, Tropical Villa Vacations is offering 50% off -- just $1,250 per night for up to eight people. (Thanksgiving rates are $1,500 per night.) Other introductory rates are offered for 2010, as well. All rates are subject to applicable taxes, and a six-night minimum stay is required. For more information on Ocean Dreams Villa 2203 or to view 2010 rates, visit here and link to the Ocean Dreams Villa web page on the list of luxury vacation residences.
41) Receive $1000 Credit for Every Four Days' Stay at Four Seasons Resort Hualali
Almost as good as cash money, this is a generous 'pay back' plan from a pristine and stellar resort.
From their release or check room availability here:
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, winner of the AAA Five-Diamond Award for 11 consecutive years, is celebrating its recent enhancements - including 20 new suites and an expanded spa - by offering guests a $1,000 resort credit for every four days they stay. That's a $2,000 resort credit for an eight-day vacation! Good at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai throughout the summer, the $1,000 credit can be used towards almost anything at the resort from a relaxing spa treatment to a romantic dinner to the room rate itself.
