El Capitan TheatreFull of toy stories ![]() The classic Hollywood gem lives on as a Disney-run jewel. This Spanish colonial-style theater made its debut in the 1920s, and later went on to host plays and world movie premieres (such as Citizen Kane in 1941). In 1989, Disney and Pacific Theaters restored the theater and transformed it into a "house of mouse." It typically shows first-run or newly restored Disney movies, which are often preceded by live stage shows. It's usually an affair for the kids, but even cinephiles afraid of mice should bring along the inner child at least once to appreciate the theater's old-style grandeur—the tunes of the Wurlitzer pipe organ and the energy from the mostly youth-filled audience have warmed many a cold heart.![]()
