Stella Adler TheatreA non-profit theater named after a famous acting coach ![]() This intimate theater is named after acting guru Stella Adler, who made her name acting and directing in the early part of the 20th century. In the 1940s Adler began teaching her craft and established a school for actors. But it wasn't until 1985 that Adler's name found a permanent home in the form of the Stella Adler Theatre. Located in the heart of Hollywood, the original space was taken over by the transit authority to make room for the Hollywood Metro. While its present location may not be the original, the refurbished theater is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology so its children's programs, acting classes and play reading series (where new and seasoned playwrights have a "safe space" to read their work aloud), have a well-equipped place to set up shop. The theater's productions range from "King Lear" and "Cabaret" to new plays like "Me Too" which was penned by "Studio 60" writer Mark Goffman and starred "The Wonder Years" alum Danica McKellar. —Elisa Jacobs ![]()
